Plastic Vortex returned EcoArt Project programming to Ecomondo, where this creative public environmental education campaign was invited to take place. The competition and exhibition raised awareness about plastic waste with a conference, a work-in-progress artistic exhibition, and an educational area - all of which aimed to turn the spotlight on the world of plastics through the channels of culture. The name of the international project was inspired by the Pacific Trash Vortex, an immense mass of garbage in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that has produced an expansive toxic area - a dangerous plastic soup that is altering entire ecosystems.
